The Coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to a standstill, but other vaccine preventable diseases have not gone away…. Influenza vaccine is important additional protection against the development of serious COVID-19 infection but in short supply. Persons with pre-existing lung disease should be vaccinated against pneumococcal pneumonia – this vaccine is currently available at our clinics. With many South Africans working from home this may be a good time to consider whether you or your children are up to date with their routine vaccines. With COVID-19 hogging the headlines and occupying large swathes of the medical community diseases such as whooping cough, diphtheria, (two more respiratory diseases that are vaccine preventable…) measles, polio and chickenpox may be quietly making a huge come back.
For those rearing to go back to work abroad, this is a time in which we can update the travel vaccines you never had time for in the past on short home rotations. You’ll recall that we provide tailored vaccine schedules including Yellow Fever as designated by the WHO and DOH. Now also COVID-19 PCR testing for outbound travellers.

In keeping with sensible social distancing rules, a maximum of two family members can be seen during a vaccination appointment and we are scheduling appointments with a fashionable social distancing gap in-between clients.
